More Information

GAMH presents an evening of Americana Roots & Blues with guitar slide
slingers Volker Strifler (of Robben Ford); Terry Hiatt (South Bay guitar
hero) along with blues singers Tia Carroll (belting it out in the tradition
of Koko Taylor) and the sultry Cathy Lemons (mistress of the blues ballad);
along with the inimitable guitar slayer Dave Workman (credits include
Junior Wells, Robert Lockwood Jr.); the master of the bay area blues
mini-revue, Stan Erhart, a multi instrumentalist, (credits include Ron
Thompson, Garth Webber) and all accompanied by an all-star back up band:
Larry Vann (of Elvin Bishop, Merle Saunders), Paul Olguin (of Maria
Muldaur,Tracy Nelson) and Austin Delone (of Howard Tate, John Nemeth). This
group of musicians will expand musical boundaries, rocking you up and
taking you down to where it all started--with the blues.

VOLKER STRIFLER:
Volker Strifler is a stunningly unique and creative guitarist who has an innate understanding of the language of music and plays with the clarity and drive of Duane Allman, which when blended with keyboards, saxophone, and trombone, become innovative explorations into rock, jazz, and Latin rhythms.

"Volker Strifler is a beautiful singer and a powerful guitarist" states Robben Ford. Strifler takes a risk with a freedom in his music that pushes his musicianship in an innovative direction, drawing from a broad palate of musical color to experiment with the Blues – taking the listener to the outer limits of the genre.

CATHY LEMONS:
Cathy Lemons has been described as "the finest light-skinned female blues vocalist in the U.S." (Real Blues 2010) with a "velvety and hypnotic voice—resonant of "a female Howlin' Wolf." (Fulltimeblues 2010)

STAN ERHART:
By way of Kansas City and Chicago to San Francisco ... Stan Erhart's roots go back to the family farm near Kansas City, KS; where hard work and play were accompanied by John Deere tractors, V-8 cars, & country guitars. His brother's horn was the first instrument, followed by guitar, vocals, sax, and flute. He spent his college years playing Michigan bars at night, while getting a music degree during the day. He then moved to Chicago to play the night club circuit, before finally arriving in San Francisco to form one of the funnest and hardest working bands in the Bay Area. His 2010 CD release "Missing You" contains seven original tunes, and has been well received on blues stations around the world (and on a number of local jukeboxes). He has a long and rewarding history with the musicians he works with, and they have a grand ole time dishin' up big plates of Roots Rockin' Grooves ... with a little of everything on the side!

LARRY VANN:
Larry Vann has made an impressive mark on the Bay Area music scene over the years with his authentic, piercing, all-encompassing musical technique. Authentic "root music", the essential substance of his artistic source, is the foundation of this superbly seasoned artist's own music branding, which fuses the essence of soul-stirring blues, sweet, mellow jazz and genuine soul, R&B and funk. One listen to his compelling, penetrating and intoxicating grooves clearly demonstrates why he has been in such huge demand for sessions & tours with the likes of ELVIN BISHOP and MERL SAUNDERS. His top-notch drumming and percussion has garnered him popular and critical success throughout the United States and Europe, and Vann has also wowed critics and crowds alike with his sultry singing voice, buoyed by his melodic, inventive songwriting.
