More Information

Joe Rut celebrates the release of his 5th CD, "Injured While Faking own Death", with a rare full band performance! Joe and company will air irreverent and touching tunes from the new CD, as well chestnuts from earlier releases. Not to be missed!

Joe was a founding member of college-radio-charting band Loretta Lynch, is half of the ambient/experimental guitar duo Lumper/Splitter, and has played with other local favorites including 86(theband), The Spikedrivers, Bunny Numbkins and the Kill Blow-Up Reaction, and Henry Kaiser.

Joe has performed at UK's Glastonbury Music Festival, The Fillmore, and the Shoreline and Sleep Train Amphitheatres, Burning Man, and an empty parking lot in Berkeley. He has been honored for his songwriting with a "Joe Rut Cover Night" in which local bands played versions of their favorite Rut tunes.

Joe loves donuts, although he understands they are killing him. Most donut shops (at least in the Bay Area) have crappy coffee, and most good coffee shops don't have actual donuts, but rather scones and crap. Joe finds this sad.

Joining Joe onstage will be Steve Lucky (Hammond B3 and piano) Joe Goldmark (pedal steel), Jason Kleinberg (fiddle), John Hanes (drums), Dave jess (bass), Val Esway (harmony Vocals), Danny Allen (guitar), and other special guests!

Reviews:

"...amazing work from this local Oakland laddie. I haven't enough superlatives for this. Truly subversive - iconoclastic isn't a strong enough word - this cuts far deeper. Greatness comes in many dimensions. This man and his cohorts deserve to be household words in this culture and in these times." -Lou Guru, KALX, Berkeley

"Funny songwriters are rare. Profound songwriters are rarer. A profound funny songwriter is a miracle...Rut sings of our inability to know our own hearts with perfect comic timing. His verbal associations are astonishing...." -Joe Quirk, Caught in the Carousel

"I don't know why you have to play so loud is all." -Joe's Mom
